Jazz4Justice on Antidote Radio WERA 96.7 FM

On Tuesday, November 9th, 2021, Ed Weiner and Shannon Gunn were guests on Ken Avis’s Antidote show to talk about Jazz4Justice. Listen here on Mixcloud. Originally broadcast 6 pm on WERA 96.7 Arlington Independent Media.

From the show notes:

“Jazz4Justice has brought together lawyers and musicians for over 20 years, raising funds to provide free legal support, and introducing young musicians to jazz. Antidote in-studio guests Shannan Gunn, and Jazz4Justice founder Ed Weiner, talk about the organization and upcoming events including the upcoming 20th anniversary gala, a Duke Ellington Tribute created in partnership with George Mason University music department. More info about Jazz4Justice and tickets for the upcoming Gala at www.jazz4justice.com

With Ellington on our minds we couldn't resist playing Duke tunes in many guises, ranging from the ska beat sounds of Skavoovie & The Epitones, through vocalist Kristin Callahan, and the sublime interpretations of Ella Fitzgerald & Joe Pass. Add in a touch of music from the George Mason Jazz, and Vocal ensembles, plus a track by Mason steel-pan professor Victor Provost; top it off with a touch of reggae trombone by Rico, and it's a wrap!”
